Support us

Artificial intelligence has the potential to be a powerful tool for human progress if properly trained and deployed. AI developers can’t do it alone. They need proper guidance: legal and ethical guardrails that encourage innovation while protecting US citizens and our democracy.

We believe policies must be created to ensure AI developers and deployers respect the rights of creators, reduce the spread of disinformation, and protect personal privacy.

That’s why the mission of the Transparency Coalition is to champion policies that ensure AI technologies are developed and used in ways that prioritize safety, transparency, and the public good.

How we activate our mission

Education and Advocacy

Education and advocacy are at the heart of our work. We believe that when people have a clear view of the impact of artificial intelligence – both good and bad – they will see the need for smart policies and more thoughtful interaction with AI tools.

Here’s how we do it.

Educational content and editorial coverage: We work with seasoned journalists and deep subject-matter experts to craft content that educates policymakers and the public about how AI works, and the impact of AI technologies—specifically training data—on the public good. AI terminology can be confusing and intimidating. We explain the systems, the potential, the risks, and the policy options in plain English.

On-the-ground experts: We identify AI subject matter experts across the United States and connect them with policymakers in one-on-one conversations. We show up. We offer insights and answer questions. Our testimony in committee hearings opens minds and turns votes.

Our education and advocacy efforts are supported by the Transparency Coalitions’ 501(c)3 entity, and all contributions to our education and advocacy efforts are tax deductible.

State Government Lobbying

The Transparency Coalition Action Fund is an IRS registered 501(c)4 organization that is focused on lobbying to drive policy change aligned with our mission.

The TCAI action fund supports our work educating and advising state lawmakers across the country so they can enact meaningful policy. In 2024/2025, our priority states include California, Washington, Utah, Texas, Tennessee, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, and Colorado.

Contributions to the Action Fund are not tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations.

Donor Interest

We rely on the generosity of funders like you to pursue our mission in the public interest. It’s important to know that donations do not influence our policy positions or editorial coverage. Our organization is run independently of our donors, who run the gamut of political, philosophical, and business backgrounds. If you are interested in supporting our work financially, please contact us through our donor interest form. We will be in touch shortly.
